The Activist Arts Festival is an initiative to bring together activist groups throughout Melbourne to present on their work in the human rights, animal rights and social justice fields. It is hoped the Festival will enable access to these groups by local communities in a non-protest environment. The event also exhibits different forms of activism through art: photography, music, spoken word, visual art, performances, workshops and film.

Make Like a Tree is a quintessention of travels expressed in music and photography created by Sergey Onischenko – vagabonder from Ukraine who is hitch-hiking round the world and spreading his indie-folk tunes with a touch of non-conformism and Beat Generation ideas and exhibiting his minimalistic landscape photography taken in omnifarious places during his journeys. Each concert is played with new members and all songs are created and recordered in different parts of the world. Experiments with sounds and collaborations with audience can turn one-man-band in a duo or in quite a large improvising ensemble so be ready to take part in a process of creating music. Soundscapes of Make Like a Tree will bring you to inner world of nature, woods, mountains and songs of whales on the bottom of the ocean.

22 FEB 2015: Cloudburst: An Afternoon of Uplifting Music
Beth and the Brave are honoured to be performing at Cloudburst, a concert aiming to raise funds and awareness for Support After Suicide, a program of Jesuit Social Services that provides support to people who are bereaved by suicide, including friends, family and young people. Featuring performances by prominent local musicians Emma Gilmartin, Jude Perl, John Flanagan, and Beth & The Brave, Cloudburst is set to be a heartening experience. The program has provided invaluable support for Gemma and her family and it is with the help of SAS that she was able to re-build her life following her father’s death. Cloudburst is an initiative that Gemma hopes will raise funds and awareness for SAS, a program that provides an essential mental health service to the community.

For the first time True Earth Market will be joining the Sustainable Living Festival for the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of February 2015 and will be promoted as one of it’s major events. 4 DEC 2014: Musicians for Detainees at Maribyrnong Detention Centre
Beth and the Brave are honoured to be performing in December as part of Musicians for Detainees. This is a music event run on the first Thursday of every month at a detention centre. The detainees at this centre are made up of refugees who have been denied visas and are waiting to be deported, others who have overstayed their visas-also waiting to be deported, and people who are deemed unfit to live in the community. 25 NOV 2014: Walk Against Family Violence at Federation Square
Beth and the Brave are very excited to be performing their debut single Grey Waltz Blue as part of the 2014 Walk Against Family Violence! The walk against family violence began in 2009 by a committee of family violence services, local council and Victoria Police in the southern region to raise community awareness of family violence and its impact within the community. The purpose of the walk is to break the silence on family violence. It is hoped that as each year the walk builds that the public is encouraged to stand up against family violence and speak out. Family violence is a problem for all of society and we all have a responsibility to make changes within our own families, workplaces, schools and community’s to be accountable and to no longer ignore the effect of violence against our mothers, sisters and daughters. Beth and the Brave are honoured to be playing in the gorgeous Toolangi State Forest as part of this year’s Festival of Forest Secrets. 12 noon – 12 midnight Participants are invited to engage and explore our connection with nature: destructive and constructive. The personal, interpersonal and ecological. A collaborative exchange of art, sculpture, music, poetry, and movement. A drug and alcohol free picnic in the beautiful but threatened Toolangi state Forest. A co creative event where we can discuss, digest, explore, celebrate, dance, paint and sing about our feelings about the forest in workshops, bushwalks, guided dance, painting, sculpture and whatever you wish to bring. There will be open mic for poets and musicians and we are excited to feature the talented and wonderful Zulu Flow, Jo, Erik Parker, Beth and the Brave, Danika Smith and many more to bless the stage with their brilliant musical meanderings. Beth and the Brave are excited to be playing at this fundraiser for a very worthwhile cause, held at the FoE cafe, 312 Smith St, Collingwood. For more information, click here. ConFest is a community and volunteer based gathering held in the beautiful Australian bush, bringing together a range of different alternative cultures. In the Music Village, and at odd spaces around our site, performers include acoustic, folk, jazz, reggae, world and indigenous musical acts as well as some circus, theatre, comedy and poetry on an open air stage. Workshops, play shops, singing, dancing, discussions, tai chi, yoga, jamming, alternative technology, vegetarian market, fire twirling, circus skills, meditations, walking, swimming and more will be on offer. Beth and the Brave will be playing on the Open Stage and spontaneously throughout the weekend.

Encompassing 4 magical days of music, art, performance, workshops, cinema, markets, healing and of course tree planting, Regrowth 2014 will be regenerating a new festival site 3.5 hrs south of Sydney, 6.5hrs from Melbourne and 1 hr from Canberra. 3 diverse stages of music will showcase a wide range of international, interstate and local artists including a massive line up of bands, live electronic acts and DJs. The festival site is set on a stunning lakeside property. Lush camping, bush walking, and a picturesque vista will treat the senses.
